A 5th generation Montanan, Austin grew up on his family farm and ranch outside Culbertson. He received his undergraduate degree from Montana State University-Bozeman and his law degree from the University of Montana. He was elected Montana’s 25th Attorney General in 2020. Prior to his becoming Attorney General, Austin served two-terms as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, was elected Roosevelt County Attorney and spent nearly a decade in private practice. Austin and his wife, Christie, have 3 children, Leah, Connor and Reagan.
